Saab Support Convoy Czech Republic and Slovakia 2015

On 17.1.2010 the first Saab Support Convoy started. It was basically a peaceful demonstration again GMs idea to close Saab completely. The idea was, that it happens at the same time all around the world, in places where Saabs have fans and fanclubs. About 6000 Saabs worldwide appeared at the first anniversary.

The rest is history, which, fortunately still continues. Somehow. At least.

This year it was the 5-th anniversary of the SSC. It was one of the few opportunities to see the known faces and friends in one place, so I couldn't resist. Also it was in Southern Moravia, which I absolutely love. Beautiful countryside. About 100 km far, which is nothing. And one of the best wine area in Europe.

The cooperation of Saabunderground.cz and Saab Club Slovakia worked again perfectly. About 40-50 cars appeared. Looking forward for the next year.

Saab Session Slovakia 2014

The place and date for the Saab Session Slovakia 2014 are here.

10.-12. October 2014 in and around the town of Banska Stiavnica.

It's a beautiful town in Middle Slovakia. One of the greatest slovak location for a weekend trip. It's a historical town with long silver and gold mining tradition. This is a very nice place for a Saab Session.

I've been there many times and always looking forward to the next trip there. Wonderful nature around. On a personal note - my father was born there, so also a little bit of family roots are resonating.

Saab gathering Roudnice 2014 photos part 1

Too many things are happening around, so I nearly forgot. But only nearly. It was a long but very fine Saturday. An 850 kilometres roundtrip, most of the time with the roof down.

Location: Roudnice nad Labem, ~50km from Prague, Czech Republic.

The Poland conventions

In the last two weeks, two of my working trips led to Poland. The first one by car, to the southern part around Krakow and the second one by plane to the capital Warsaw. I feel a lot of sympathy for Poland because I've met a couple of very fine people there.

The Saab community has a lot of enthusiasts. When you drive or walk around Warsaw, you see many many Saabs. Even, one of my colleagues in Warsaw drives the last model of 9-5. And also we share the same worries about, what is going on in our eastern neighbour country Ukraina.

But back to the Saab topic. This year Poland will host two very interesting Saab conventions.

IntSaab 2014

The large one is IntSaab 2014, the annual International Saab Clubs Meeting. The dates to save are 8.8. - 10.8.2014, the place to go is the wonderful area of the castle Malbork, not far from the Baltic coast. The closest larger city is one of the oldest polish cities and a seaport Gdansk.

You can find everything important on the IntSaab 2014 website. There is a lot of programme in plan, incl. pretours. You can meet there Peter Backstrom from the Saab Museum in Trollhattan and Mr.Saab Erik Carlson. The meeting is hosted by Saab Club Poland.

Antique Saab Convention

The retro one is the IV. Antique Saab Convention hosted by Saab GT Classic club. The dates are 13. - 15.6.2014, the place is Mosina, not far away from Poznan. On their website is already an outline of the program as well as already registered Saabs.

Saab Support Convoy 4th Anniversary CZ & SK video and photos

4th anniversary Saab Support Convoy Czech Republic & Slovakia

The 4th anniversary of the Saab Support Convoy will happen at 19.1.2014 in Lednice, Czech Republic. Actually the wonderful south Moravia. One of my preferred convertible trip locations.

The smaller convoys from three cities, and whoever is interested, will meet up there. Brno, Ostrava and Bratislava are the main convoy meetup cities. The final place is here in Lednice.

I write this with a sour feeling, 'coz I can't come. I need to be somewhere else because of the work. But in my mind and soul I will be with you all guys. Ehhh...

The Saab Meeting Bavarian Forest 2013

At the same weekend as the Saab Session Slovakia 2013 about 600 kilometers to the west happened another Saab event - the Saab Treffen Bayerischer Wald 2013 organised by Matthias Ketterl.

Carefully organised and booked-out about 85 Saabs arrived. Many models, from Saab 93 through Sonett (cabrio !), through classic 900 and 9000 up to NG 9-5 SportCombi and 9-4X. Alltogether about 150 people arrived.

The VIP guest of the event was Simo Lampinen, ex rally driver, member of the Saab rally team and a ambassador of the brand. I remember Simo from Saab festival in Trollhattan as a always smiling and energetic guy. I drove him by coincidence together with two other guys to the great dinner. Hi Simo, it's Alex here.

A very sympathetic act of Saab Meeting in Bavarian Forest is, that the remaining money from the event goes as a donation to the Saab Museum in Trollhattan. My respect, this is a great sign of support to the brand.
